Course Information

The purpose of this course is to increase the awareness and knowledge of managers and team leaders on the topic of workplace bullying and harassment. The course is intended to ensure that the programme will help those accountable for managing and supervising others gain the confidence to challenge unacceptable employee behaviour. Delegates will learn how to establish and maintain clear standards of behaviour in order to create a positive working environment. Workplace bullying and/or harrassment can be defined as offensive behaviour through cruel, malicious, vindictive, or humiliating ways to undermine individuals or groups of employees. Abuse of power often causes chronic stress and anxiety such that the employees gradually lose self confidence and belief in themselves. This course is ideally suited to enable participants to recognise symptoms of bullying and/or harrassment in the early stages and deal with them effectively. Knowledge By the end of the course delegates will be able to increase their knowledge of the relevant legislation as it applies to bullying, and their management responsibilities within their organisations policy and code of practice. Have a greater awareness and understanding of what constitutes bullying, its effects on the individual and the organisation, and the health and safety implications. Know how to handle bullying informally and formally. Develop personal and team action plans which will help create a positive work environment. Understand the impact of their own behaviour on others, and set standards of behaviour for their teams.
